Needhost.dk out of business

It has come to my attention that the needhost.dk webhosting site has gone out of business! Apparently there is no way of getting our information and database back from them.

We will work on getting a new domain name asap with our forums and website back up. Until then wait patiently..

Website down?

It has come to my attention that the website and forum seemsdown. I currently cannot explain it, but I have doubts it has something to do with the international internet lines that were cut last week. When I will have more detail I will inform you. If something happened to our web publisher we will simply move and buy a new one.

Armors peak

To keep you interested meanwhile we work our ass off (*grins*) here's one of the armors we decided to take into use. There will be some interesting things for many professions, which are achieved only through a quest and gives some kind of speciality to the class. Stat boost, extra spell, special weapon strike etc, something unique. But I won't reveal more at this point.

Armor restrictions are soon done, but I'm sure kontrol will post more details about it soon.

Class system - Updates

So here's few updates.

After a small break, I continued the class system. The class themselves and the GuildMasters are done. So I'm now working on the class armor restrictions, which shouldn't take much time.

After the armor restriction, I'll start coding the spells and books and or the housing system depending on what we have done on spells design. So it is the time to keep posting your spells idea.

Update on several issues

It's been a while since we have wrote here again, but it doesn't mean we haven't been developing/planning the shard. So lads, here's a update what we're currently working/planning with:
- Towns (how many, what type etc.).
- Basic idea of religions.
- Kingdoms (yes, there will be two different kingdoms, beside that you can choose to live as rogue leisure, more about that later).

Seraph also announced few days ago that the new forum (phpbb3) with the website design will come pretty soon, when the guy who designed the website has time to do it.

Custom spell designing started also few days ago, and will proceed.

On top of that, the assassin class (unique features) is under the task aswell.

I'll post a new version of the map when we have final decision of the amount, style and locations of the towns.

Back on track

Ohoy.
We all had busy week last week so nothing fancy didn't really happen. I finished one work project which earned me some cash, and now I have time to continue on the map again.

We will hold a voice meeting with all staff members presented this week where we will decide some important general matters concerning the shard which haven't been fully decided yet.
We'll release a short report of the meeting here to keep you updated on the issues we think you need to know about.

Class system

It's going pretty well. Baseclasses are now working, and classes are almost done along with guildmasters. What's left here is to create the classes templates based on our design. And of course testing.

Skills adjustements/modifications and gainrates will be adjusted in the future, when I will review most of RunUO code to remove or comments most of the OSI stuff we do not want on Pangeae.

When I'm done with classes, I will probably start creating the spells. We estimated around 80-90 custom spells to create. We will redesign most of the spells creating totally new spells. We will take some of the good ones from Pangeae and rest will come from our ideas.

I will create posts for each classes spells, so if you ever dreamed of a class casting a spell you think about, it will be time to ask so. Remember, balance :)

New Age continents arising

Here what I promised, very first version of fully customized map.
It's just a peek, and version 0.01. But basic idea is seen; two bigger continents + islands, bigger and smaller.
You can probably hint something out of this.. or not! Time will tell. ;)

Welcome GM Mitzy!

Warm welcome to GM Mitzy for joining Pangaea - A New Age staff. Both a longtime GM/admin on former Pangaea with experience in many fields with respect and loyalty from her peers, we expect her to help us rise to the top with her unique perspectives and ambitions.

Base classes

I'm done implementing base classes. When you first create a character, you are send to a room, where you have to use the Character creation book. There you will choose your base class, your stats, and your starting skills. Most like you are used to.

Next step is implementing the classes themselves. Don't forget if you wish to see any changes to some classes skills, it is the time to propose them.

Currently I didn't touch the gain rates for the class systems, but will be one of my next task after classes.

All roads lead to the core

That's it. I tought I could avoid this solution for the whole project but It seem I'v reach a limit I wasn't aware of. No worry, that doens't mean RunUO is less flexible than we said, I'm just trying to do something they didn't think we would do. Also having the possibility to makes to modification to the core is great, as it give us even more flexibility.

I could have avoided this solution, but if I wanted the code to run the fastest as I could and avoid buggy bottleneck, I had to mod it. Only downside is when there will be new release, if we want to update, I will probably need to recompile the core manually and replicating my modifications. But well, if I can modify it, I guess that's an easy task isn't it?

Browsing the armors

Today I went through the all possible armor graphics there exist and made screenshot of them so we can decide what to use and what not. There were some pretty cool ones and some pretty ugly ones, but I'm sure you can expect some "new" armor graphics to be used.

Map progress

I have found a way to draw map with Photoshop, convert it and run there on my test shard.
Map is now progressing and next task is to draw the continents, shorelines and then try to find the bugs.

I will post a picture of it lateron. Keep coming here on regular basis.

Class system

Class system base structure is currently under the task of the staff. Basicly it follows the Pangaea 1 structure but there will be tweaks, fixes additions and secrets to ensure better working system where all classes are more useful and fun to play.
